Frequently Asked Questions
Where is Little Sprouts Nature Program located?
We are located 15–20 minutes east of Sherwood Park and Edmonton.
Location: 51418 Range Road 222, Sherwood Park
What ages is Little Sprouts Nature Play designed for?
Our program is designed for children ages 2–6 years old.
However, if your child is walking confidently and is comfortable playing in outdoor, nature-based environments, you are welcome to enroll them at your discretion. Parents must be able to maintain supervision of their child(ren) at all times.
Can I bring my infant while my child participates?
Yes! You’re welcome to baby wear free of charge — no registration required. Your baby can still enjoy nature’s sights, smells, and sounds alongside you. **We ask that if your child is walking around they need to be registered in the program.
Are strollers or wagons allowed?
Strollers are not recommended due to uneven natural terrain in some program areas.
Is this a daycare or preschool?
No. Little Sprouts is a nature-based enrichment program. We focus on child-led exploration, outdoor play, and meaningful experiences in nature rather than structured classroom instruction.
Are parents required to stay?
Yes. This is not a drop-off program. Parents or guardians must supervise their child at all times.
How many children are in each session?
We intentionally keep our group sizes small to ensure a calm, connected, and safe experience for everyone.
Small groups allow each child the space to fully enjoy the wonder spots they choose to explore while helping us maintain the child-led atmosphere we value so much.
How long are your sessions?
4-Week series run for approximately 1.5 hours total:
-
15 minutes for arrival, and settling in
-
1 hour of child-led exploration and play
-
15 minutes for wrap-up & get ready to go home (change, snack etc.)

Summer drop-in sessions are from 10:00 AM - 12:00 PM.
What does a typical session look like?
Each session includes:
• Free exploration in our nature wonder spots
• Sensory play
• Opportunities for creative and manageable risk-taking
• Farm animal observation
Every session features a different theme to help spark curiosity and imagination.
Do children interact with the animals?
Children will observe and learn about the animals as part of the farm environment. Although our animals are friendly, we ask that children refrain from touching, feeding or handling them for safety and respect.
All animals are securely contained behind proper fencing to ensure a safe and calm experience for both children and animals.
What is a “Wonder Spot”?
A Wonder Spot is a thoughtfully created outdoor play area designed to spark curiosity, imagination, and exploration. We intentionally chose not to call them “stations.” Stations suggest rotation, structure, and a set path to follow. Wonder Spots are different. Each spot invites children into a different kind of experience — whether that’s building, digging, creating, observing, or engaging in sensory play.
Some Wonder Spots encourage messy play and experimentation. Others inspire discovery, problem-solving, or imagination.
Children choose where they feel drawn, how long they stay, and how they interact with the materials. This freedom allows play to unfold naturally and supports confidence, creativity, and deep engagement.
What should my child wear?
Please come come dressed for the weather:
-
Weather-appropriate layers
-
Rain/snow gear (if needed)
-
Sturdy closed-toe shoes or boots
-
Extra clothes (just in case!)
-
Sun protection (sunscreen, hat etc.)
What happens in poor weather?
We run in most weather conditions, including light rain and snow. Extreme weather (such as severe storms, unsafe temperatures, or poor air quality) may result in cancellation. Families will be notified if this occurs.
What is your photo and media policy?
At this time, we do not take or share photos of participating children on social media.
Because we see families for a limited number of sessions, we feel it would be difficult to confidently track consent. We would never want to accidentally post a child whose family did not give permission.
Parents are welcome to take photos of their own child during the program. We may occasionally share photos of our own children or of children whose parents have directly given us permission to feature them.
