Wonder Spots
A Wonder Spot is a thoughtfully created outdoor play area designed to spark curiosity, imagination, and exploration. We intentionally chose not to call them “stations.” Stations suggest rotation, structure, and a set path to follow. Wonder Spots are different. Each spot invites children into a different kind of experience — whether that’s building, digging, creating, observing, or engaging in sensory play.
Some Wonder Spots encourage messy play and experimentation. Others inspire discovery, problem-solving, or imagination.
Children choose where they feel drawn, how long they stay, and how they interact with the materials. This freedom allows play to unfold naturally and supports confidence, creativity, and deep engagement.

Wonder Spots stay the same each week, but the materials, theme and activities change to create new opportunities for play and discovery.
Mud Kitchen
Children can whip up messy masterpieces with soil, water, natural ingredient and a pinch of imagination. It's the heart of tactile, sensory play!
Water Table
A spot is for pouring, scooping, splashing and experimenting. Children explore cause and effect, early math concepts, sensory play and problem solving—all by getting their hands wet!
Rock Box
Explore the textures and weights of the earth. Dig, sort, stack, and uncover hidden treasures. Children build fine motor skills, problem-solve and explore through hands on discovery—one rock at a time!
Dry Sensory
Engage the senses with a variety of dried materials. A spot for scooping, pouring, sorting and exploring different textures. Children engage their senses, strengthen fine motor skills and spark creativity through open-ended hands-on play.
Scavenger Hunt
Encourages children to slow down, look closely and notice the world around them. As they search for shapes, colors textures and exciting finds, they build observation skills, curiosity and a deeper connection to the natural world.
Loose Parts
A spot is for creating, building and imagining with open-ended materials. As children arrange, combine and transform loose parts, they build creativity, problem-solving skills and confidence in bringing their ideas to life!
Crafts
A spot where art and nature come together. Using foraged materials, natural dyes and paints, and boundless creativity, children create unique pieces while exploring self-expression, curiosity and discover what can be created from just a few of natures simple materials.
Music Experience
A spot to shake, tap and make music in nature. Children can listen to the sounds of the woods and use natural instruments to create their own rhythms and songs—building listening skills, creativity and joy through playful sound exploration. Will they discover what makes the sound of rain...or thunder?
Forest Play
A spot for freedom—to explore, climb, balance, swing, and roam. Through unstructured play in the forest, children build gross motor skills, grow confidence in their bodies and develop physical literacy while forming a deep connection with the natural world.
